Figma Consulting from Jennifer Smith

I have been doing a great deal of Figma consulting where I help businesses build scalable, well-structured design systems, optimizing their design workflows through the efficient use of Figma. Part of my work is focused on bridging the gap between design and development by creating clear, reusable component libraries and establishing best practices that make collaboration smoother and more efficient. I work closely with a team of experienced Figma consultants at American Graphics Institute, where we provide both hands-on Figma training and Figma consulting, along with broader UX services to support the creation of websites, apps, and other interfaces.

Although I’m based in Boston, I work as a Figma consultant both in-person and remotely with organizations nationwide. My consulting engagements range from establishing design governance frameworks and building comprehensive design systems to implementing Figma integrations with existing product workflows, and providing Figma training. I also provide ongoing support, documentation, and training programs to help internal teams adopt these practices effectively and sustain them long-term.

A significant part of my work involves helping organizations build robust Figma design systems from the ground up. This includes setting up component libraries, establishing style guides, defining naming conventions, and creating scalable structures that enable teams to design faster and more consistently. I work with stakeholders across design, product, and engineering to align on a shared visual language and ensure the system can grow and adapt with the organization. Whether it’s centralizing design assets, ensuring accessibility compliance, or integrating tokens to bridge design and code, my goal is to create systems that make design teams more efficient and consistent.

While my background is in human factors and information design, my work often extends into operational and strategic decision-making, including helping organizations evaluate and optimize their Figma licensing models. In several cases, this has led to significant cost savings while also improving accessibility, collaboration, and consistency across distributed design teams. Figma is not just a design tool, it provides a central, well-structured system that helps teams to work faster and collaborate better.
